





Wax Ring Forming Class with Metal and Dust

Discover the wax forming world of Metal and Dust jewellery and create your own ring in our intimate wax ring making class. During the class, you will be guided through the process of forming one of two ring styles: a curved shape band or a signet ring.
At the end of your class your ring will be left at the Metal and Dust studio to be cast and finished. The finished piece will be available to collect approximately 4 weeks after the class. Please note, sterling silver casting is included in the class price. A quote can be provided if you decide to upgrade your cast to gold or platinum.

Gold Upgrade:
The class price includes sterling silver casting. A quote can be provided (based on the weight of your ring) if you decide to upgrade to 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold. As a guide, 9ct yellow gold casting upgrade prices can vary from $700 (for a small, thin band) to $1,800 and upwards (for a more substantial signet ring or band).

Flush set lab grown diamond or sapphire (yellow, pink, blue, green, purple, aqua, teal)
Multiple Casting:
If you wish to have more than one ring cast, additional labour/ finishing fees will apply
You will receive your finished ring approximately 4 weeks after the class once it has been cast and finished in the Metal and Dust studio.
Our intimate classes (8 person capacity) are suitable for small groups, couples or individuals looking to experience the wax carving method of jewellery making in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

You do not need to bring anything. All tools, equipment and resources are provided for your use at the class.
You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We will make a lot of wax shavings but these can simply be shaken off at the end of the class and will not stain your clothing or stick to your skin.
Ring Forming Classes are held within our studio location at 58 James Street Northbridge. The studio is on the first floor of a character building which is accessible only by stairs.
Street parking is available in surrounding streets, CPP State Library is within close proximity.
Our group classes are designed as an introduction to the wax carving process. Forming wedding bands, (particularly a flush fit with an engagement ring) requires more time and attention to detail. If you would like to make your own wedding bands, please get in touch to discuss the possibility of booking a private 2:1 class with jeweller Steph Bennett. Private booking fees applicable.
Yes, if you have an outstanding Metal and Dust store credit or gift card, the code can be applied at the checkout.
Credits for recycling old jewellery items can also be redeemed against cast fees if you decide to have your ring cast in gold or platinum.
Please contact us with a minimum of 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend a class. We can re-schedule your booking for another suitable class date, or provide a credit note which can be redeemed on your next Metal and Dust online order.
Refunds are not provided for Wax Ring Forming Classes.
Please note, we are unable to re-schedule or provide a store credit for bookings that are cancelled within 48 hours of the class. If you are late to the class or do not show up, you will not be eligible to re-schedule or receive a store credit.
